Colby

Colby surprised us by being about 3 1/2 weeks early!  Lucky for Donnie, his plane back from his Mexico fishing trip had just come in on May 24th at 8pm.   He went straight to the station that night, planning to work the last day of his shift.  My water broke at 2:30am May 25th.  Janet and Jackson took me to the hospital, and Donnie was able to get there around 6am.  And little guy joined us at 10am!  A healthy 7 pounds, 7ounces for being so early.

We had to stay at the hospital for 48 hours, policy for early babies.  Colby already followed the footsteps of his older brother by spending some time under the bili lights for jaundice, per our request.  Things are so different the second time around.  With Jackson, I think we were so confused, shocked, emotional, and scared about being readmitted for jaundice that I didn't even take pictures of him under the lights.  We just kind of wanted to forget it.  This time around, we practically were requesting Colby be put under the lights preventatively so his jaundice wouldn't get bad.  It was so much nicer at this hospital too, where they wheel the machine right into your room.

And after one more night, we're home!

Looking pretty similar to Jackson as a baby,

Leaving

I think Colby had a bit of practice sleeping by himself under the lights, because so far he's a pretty easy baby!  Not much a of crier, only when he's being changed or hungry.

2 1/2 Years Old

Dear Jackson,

It's hard to believe you've been here 2 1/2 years.  Some days it feels as if you've been here longer and some days it feels as if you just got here.

Sitting

In just the past half year, you've grown so much.  We go to preschool together, and you've made friends and learned to share.  You say hi to other kids and try to have a conversation with them.  You still can't quite sit down during story time, but it's only because you're so excited you jump with joy answering all of the questions the teacher's asking.  Even though the other kids are sitting nicely, it seems like you're the only one listening.   At least you know to stand and jump in the back now.  You were moved up with the big kids in swimming lessons and didn't even notice.  You have so much fun that you run to the swimming entrance door when we get there, and you jump in and try your hardest whenever the teacher asks.  It's so much fun to have a child so eager.

In about +/- 3 weeks you're going to be a big brother.  It's not going to be only you anymore.  But, we're really thinking you're going to be an awesome big brother.  At preschool, I was holding one of the babies, and you came up and gave him a hug and asked if you could hold him.  So sweet, the other moms were just swooning.

Some days you tell us little brother is going to be a baby, and other days you tell us he's going to be a kid.  We think you're hoping he'll be a kid.  If we ask you his name, you won't even guess.  At least that means you won't be telling us what you want his name to be.  We're excited to see how close you'll be as brothers.

Warmer

He has some big shoes to fill, but we know you'll help him along the way.

Fun Zone

We had a Fun Zone weekend.  I had friends visiting, my roommates from college :)  We did all of our normal things, besides going to Riley's.  We ate at Tres, went to farmer's market, shopped downtown, went to Sierra Nevada Brewery, grilled and made dinner and snacks, and got some good magazine and movie time in.

Donnie was brave enough to try Chuck E. Cheese's again, even after last time.  The Chuck E. Cheese's part actually closed and they changed the building into Fun Zone.  So we had hopes to go back again and have some better pizza.  Nope, he said it's the same without the mouse.  Bummer.

Little Swimmer

We're loving our new swim lessons in Chico.  Jackson got his first ribbon and was so proud of himself!  So cute to see him happy.

With orange ribbon and t-shirt :)
