Bad Blogger

I'll sure try to blog this week, but we're in the midst of party planning, whoopie! Oh how in the world can our little baby turn one on Friday?!?!

Poor Jackson has a tiny cold, which seems to be getting better, so we're crossing our fingers it's completely gone by Friday. He has a big weekend, two parties, one Friday, one Sunday, and Halloween smack in the middle of them. Wowzers, what was I thinking?

First Word

And the winner is......

Bye-Bye!

I first heard him say it today when he was sitting and watching The Wiggles. (Which is the one show he will sit and watch the whole thing. Crazy Australians singing and dancing on the beach, weird!) But, at the end they were all saying good-bye and I looked up and Jackson's waving back and said, "Bye!" to the TV. I thought I was going crazy, but it was crystal clear.

But, then tonight we just left Janet's and he waved and said, "Bye-Bye!" And I asked, "That's a word, right?" And the consensus agrees!

Little Spoon

Might we have a lefty on our hands? (I am one and it runs in my fam!)

We Have Some Walking!

Jackson's taking steps! They're adorable (of course ;) ), and he seems to be quite proud of himself!

Yesterday, I caught him walking towards the TV like a zombie, which freaked me out because it came out of nowhere. Instead of his arms straight out, they were crossed holding each other he was walking and it was so cute.

Today, he's definitely practicing. You can practically see him thinking as he does it!

It's so sporadic when he does it. He definitely wants to practice on his terms, you can't try to practice with him or boy, he gets mad! So we'll try to get video when Donnie returns.

Card

Since we seem to have Sprout on at least once a day for cranky times, of course I had to make Jackson a birthday card! They post them online and maybe even read it on TV!

Here is the inside of Jackson's birthday card from the WWW (his debut other than this blog) and it's posted online in The Gallery. We'll be watching on his birthday in two little weeks.

Thankful Thursday

1. A fabulous weekend with friends! Happy Birthday Cheryl!

2. Some much needed rain, and we sure got a ton of much needed rain. My class is REALLY nice during rainy days inside too! And the custodian was super quick to fix the leak dripping down into the middle of our classroom.

3. Our neighbors lending us the cutest Halloween costume ever for Jackson! Pics to come soon.

Pumkin Patch

We went as a fam to our first annual pumpkin patch trip! So much fun, Jackson was mesmerized by everything going on.

Lesson learned, pumpkin patch lighting is way too hard for manual. Not with an almost toddler anyways. I was not happy with my pics and next time will probably shoot in ap mode.

Typical Night

A typical night just Jackson and I usually consists of going into the backyard after dinner during crabby time. Jackson is suddenly fabulous and mesmerized by the wonders that be outside.

We play with his sand and water table with the trucks,

"Maybe I'll eat some dirt..."

"Nope, I'll move on and try my new favorite. Picking tomatoes to eat myself!"

Too Cute Tuesday

We must have been gearing to go out, and put his bib on so he doesn't mess himself up before we're ready to leave!

Cajun Festival

Yesterday Janet, Janet's friend Elaine, Susan, Tyler, Kailey, Maureen, Blair, Donnie, Jackson, and I went downtown to the Cajun Festival! Last year I was quite preggo, but it was still a ton of fun. This year it was a lot more crowded (a little too crowded for me). We still had a good time, but didn't stay quite as long.

I forgot my camera, of course. The parade is what I missed pics of. The high school band goes down the street and gets to wear mis-matched clothes and it's a lot of fun. Of course for the Cajun Festival they also have a big lady in a convertible throwing beads. We screamed for our beads while I was holding Jackson as bait (who could resist NOT throwing it to cutie Jackson?) So, she flung a bunch our way and I held out my hand to block his face, and unfortunately we banged heads which scared him and made him cry a bit. But, in all the chaos, he caught one right over his little head! Landed perfectly around his neck!

Here's the part we were a little disturbed by, I'm surprised a pic made the front page of our paper. One booth had 2 kiddie pools of dead crawdads that kids could try to "catch" with poles and string. Um, why not add some water to the pool so the crawdads don't die and at least can somewhat put up a fight????
