Chico Air Attack Base

Yesterday we went to visit the Chico Air Attack Base.  Donnie has not been stationed there, but has flown into it on the helicopter when he used to work on the Helitack during summers.

Jackson is always pointing out airplanes flying by over our house, so it was so fun for him to be up and close to see the airplanes at the Chico Airport.

My Camera

is up and running!  A million things going on here, you know how it is moving in somewhere.  Cable's getting hooked up today, phone should be coming soon, trying to get things working.  But I'm very excited to be dipping my toes back into taking some pictures around here.

Jackson's started swim lessons this week, since we're all better now, and is loving it!  I was super nervous the first day, having missed a whole week, that we would now disrupt a nice, quiet class of babies and be the screaming kid in class.  Or that this summer now that he's walking, he'd be running here and there and I'd be the lunatic mom in her bathing suit chasing after their kid.  But he's been fine and now is diving back into the water like it's no big deal.

A few days ago we checked out our Trader Joes in town, and Jackson picked out the peanut butter Panda cereal, showing everybody the Panda on his box of cereal in the store.  So, we tried it out today.

We're here...

with absolutely nothing to report, except that the 24hr flu is still going strong on hour 84.  First Jackson, then myself, now Donnie.  Ick.  We missed our first week of swim lessons.  On Tuesday, when Jackson was starting to feel better, I was not, Donnie was stuck in class all day, and we were still able to cross blowing bubbles off our summer list.  Jackson had fun while I laid on the lounge chair in the sun in a sweatshirt and still cold.  It worked out well.

School's out...

...for-evah.  Today I'm officially a SAHM!  Not forever forever, but for a while.  I need a long break from teaching other people's kids and want to be able to teach my own.

I celebrated cleaning and checking out of my classroom early by taking a trip to Ikea for some furniture to organize our chaos at the new house.  Ikea by myself, bad idea, remind me to NEVER do that again.  I realized I left my wallet in the car while checking out, ran over my toe with the cart, and had to have like 5 workers help me at various points instead of my one trusty Donnie.  Oh well, done and checked off.

And, what do I get as a SAHM welcoming present?  A sick kid.  Well, I was the one who wants this full-time, better get used to it.  And poor Jackson never gets sick, so he doesn't deal with it so well.  He's been asleep on myself or Donnie all day long.  After refusing food, you know something is wrong.  The kid just doesn't voluntarily give up food.  Hopefully he's better before Sunday Funday! (Maybe calling moving day that will make it all the better?  ;) One can hope!)

Last Week of School!

Last week of work! And this week has flown by and tomorrow is the last day of students.  For a long while, weird. Everyone at school is so excited for our move, so many people love Chico. We've started packing up the classroom, so even the kids know what's going on now. My 9 year old's moms stay at home, so they're excited for me too. Too funny.

My last day of school is Friday and then Donnie and I are celebrating on Saturday by going to Sting! I think this is Donnie's first live Sting.  I've seen him many times and we'll be the youngest couple there for sure. This is the first time he's been with the Philharmonic Orchestra though, that should be good.

And Sunday is the big final move! Even though all of our stuff is already up there, there's still a lot of last minute things to cram in our cars. Crib, dresser, patio furniture, TV, etc.

How did summer come so quickly?

Slide Honors

And Honors for the first to go down the water slide, goes to.... Nicole! Janet didn't even have to pay her $5, we were able to give her the honor of forever being able to say she was the first to try out the slide. She even went down a few times and said it was fun! Next time Donnie and I will try. I did go swimming to cool down after painting this weekend, but it wasn't quite slide weather for me :)
