Fundraisers

I cannot wait to be free for a couple years from class fundraisers. We have to promote them to the kids, and they seem like there's one every month lately. As if people need 5 lb tubs of cookie dough!

Each time, I get a different kid brave enough to ask the teacher to buy something. And I feel so badly, I can't say no when we're supposed to be encouraging them! I ordered Donnie some silicone basting brushes (for our new BBQ!) and was almost going to order myself a subscription of Real Simple Magazine. But, I better wait in case the word spreads that the teacher will buy something :)

Valentine's Day!

To say I love Valentine's Day is an understatement. I just adore it! I've loved it ever since grade school and now is the one holiday I still love as a teacher. This year one of my shyest student's winked when he gave me his Valentine. Oh so hard to keep it contained, I can't forget that!

Donnie and I did Valentine's Day on Saturday the 13th because he works Sundays. We were able to drop Jackson off at Nana's (Thank you!) and go to see Valentine's Day the movie. So cute. Afterwards, we went to Yountville and tried out Hill Family Estate. It's always so funny to be the only people not from out of town, and sometimes we get the stink eye when we don't have to pay for our tasting. It was excellent & we bought 2 bottles, one for dinner. We walked around V Marketplace before dinner at Hurleys. Great day!

Sunday for actual Valentine's Day, we made cookies to take to Donnie. Jackson and I made cards and brought everything to the station. He just loves little trucks, cars, and trains, and the real fire engine is no different. He literally would've sat playing with the steering wheel for hours!

My funny Valentine, taken at V Marketplace where Donnie also bought me Razzles. (13 Going on 30!)

Some Moving Pictures

The first part of moving is done. Packing. Which, I think is the hard part. Packing stinks, unpacking and organizing in a new house is fun!

Donnie is the expert packer and got most of our house into this 16 by 8 foot Pod. Which is a little scary thinking that all of your possessions are in this wooden box. Which they pick up and store who-knows-where while you're figuring out where you're moving. Scary.

My 3 week Winter Vacation turned into 3 weeks of packing, yuck. Jackson was a disaster during the whole thing, since you know how kids love to unpack what you've just packed.

Juice became one of my biggest friends to distract Jackson while I was packing. And I hate juice. Oh well, you gotta do what you've gotta do sometimes.

Jackson in his working clothes. Ha.

February

Is it really February already?!? And I only posted four times in January?! Just from that clue you know we must have been busy! Well, today is Superbowl Sunday and we're having a little party, so I will be sure to post pictures after. And, I'm on my way to the hospital to visit our friend's Mitchell & Amanda's new little one Logan, so I will be sure to post pictures after I take his newborn pics next week! I was able to take Amanda's maternity pictures and it was so much fun, always learning something new.

Plus, we've started escrow on our new home in Chico, and hopefully that will close Feb 26th! Hopefully. When we sold our house, the bank took forever for our buyers, so fingers crossed the same thing doesn't happen for us. Pictures to come, beautiful house, but we will have a tiny bit of work to do on it to make it our home.

Words

Since I can't post pictures, I'll update a little about Jackson and his new words!

His current words are,
Mama
Dada
dog
ball
car
bye bye
go (which if you say "Ready," he'll say, "Go!" Too cute.)
and no.

"No" sounds more like "Mo" though. The kid is strong-willed and has a huge obsession with climbing, especially ONTO the table. He will walk around shaking his head saying, "Mo, Mo, Mo."

"Go" is his favorite word, he says it all day long. It fits him perfectly because he's always on the go while saying it.

Moving!

So much going on, I've had little time to post.

We're moving! Actually, I guess we've moved. I've been hesitant to write it, making sure everything went smoothly, but finally our house has closed! We didn't even have to put it on the market, so lucky. Escrow is finally closed and we're moving on. Chico here we come!

Hopefully I'll get our laptop unpacked soon and get some pictures up. Jackson was such a cute helper. Ha ha. Actually moving with a toddler is pretty high on the list of impossible things to do.

Just a reminder to myself..

...that someday I want to try these Go Anywhere Wine Glasses out!

I've gotten to use them with Mark and Janet at a Silo's/General Store Wednesday happy hour and they were so cool. And recyclable!

Goals of 2010

2010 is going to be OUR year.

2008 was great (getting pregnant & Jackson was born), but 2009 was a wee-bit tough, let me tell you,

Although we got to celebrate all of the wonderness a new baby brings in 2008, Jackson was one tough cookie. I'm sure you can't tell, because who posts pictures of their screaming baby, you know? Every day he gets older, he gets a little bit easier. A year of wonderment, learning, and cuter everyday. 2010 will be his year.

2008, Donnie finished the Fire Academy and became a permanent Engineer Firefighter. Such hard work and a huge accomplishment on his part. 2009, he had to finish a ton of different classes, which kept him at work a lot, to be eligible for Captain. He is now ready and excited for his Captain's interview. 2010 will be his year.

2008, we all had secure jobs. 2009, because of budget cuts I got my pink slip and my job was up in the air. We really didn't know for months if I would have one, which was a huge amount of stress on our shoulders. Luckily, I did get hired for the school year that I will finish up this June. Yet this March 2010, I will get a pink slip AGAIN before the school year ends. But, this year at least we are prepared. We've already decided I won't be returning to teach another school year. I get to teach my own child at home and pursue other goals! Who knew after all my hard work and schooling to become a teacher, the ultimate goal would be to be able to stay at home. 2010 will be my year.

My goals/wishes for 2010, posted for all to see in hopes of that extra push to make SURE I accomplish them.
1. Finish out the school year strong.
2. Learn and practice enough to be accepted into Prepro with my measly d60.
3. Save up by Christmas for a Canon 5D Mark II as a reward to myself for getting into Prepro.
